If distortion appears in a chain of multiple pieces of audio equipment, check for proper level in each piece of equipment. I am always cautious with the boost technique anytime IEMs are involved. The cut method is harder to use because you do have to have your ears trained for a more subtle change in the sound but is far safer with IEM set ups and potential feedback issues. I have had to train all our sound techs at the church I am on staff at now in the cut and sweep method due to the fact we are all IEM from FOH and channel sends are not pre EQ. Anyway, just another angle on EQing techniques.


Noise-induced hearing loss is usually permanent, so it's important to take precautions to protect your ears. There are several solutions available for people who anticipate being in loud noise situations, including:


Descend to just 4 feet below the surface, and this increases to 1.78 PSI, which is enough to cause you some discomfort if you have not already cleared your ears and equalized pressure using the Valsalva maneuver.


If you find that your ears are particularly sensitive, you should descend very slowly. The standard advice is to equalize once for every 2 feet that you descend. If you find that your ears are very sensitive, you may want to do this every 1 foot.

Basically, you will pinch your nose, then you will blow and swallow at the same time. You may want to practice this on land a few times, as it can feel awkward at first. But by combining the Valsalva maneuver and Toynbee maneuver, you will likely be much more successful at equalizing your ears.


But have to agree to everything said above. In a game where detection is mostly based on sound, it's super annoying to have these random sound effects, crackles, bugs in some weapon sounds and all kinds of random anomalies in the background ambient loops. The crickets that live inside your ears. The strange low frequency thumps (bumping the microphone while recording). The sound leaking through the walls etc. I had a freaking hart attack yesterday, when I only started hearing my friend running when he was running past me (even though he was running close the whole time on a hard floor).


Turn off Binaural, and I bet your problems are fixed, sure it wont sound realistic like you have 2 ears, but this is the technology thats causing the problems. (Realtek does not have proper binarual drivers.) 2ff7e9595c
